Conveyancer & Residential Property Team Leader


My client has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Conveyancer & Residential Property Team Leader to join their reputable Residential Property department. The successful candidate will be a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer and will have experience of managing a CQS accredited team of conveyancers and support staff. 

The Residential Property department covers all residential property transactions, including sales and purchases, transfers of equity, remortgages, shared ownership and plot sales and purchases.

The successful candidate will undertake fee earning work as a Conveyancer based in the firm’s Exeter Branch. You will have specific responsibility for domestic conveyancing and providing a profitable contribution to the work of the Residential Property department. You will deal with all legal matters, paperwork and queries involved in residential property transactions and will advise clients on the technical content of such documents and their financial implications.

You will also be able to manage a full caseload, including but not limited to:

  • Leasehold and Freehold sales and purchases
  • Dealing with both registered and unregistered land
  • Advising clients on all aspects of mortgages and lender requirements
  • Buy-to-let properties
  • Shared ownership leases
  • New plot purchases including help to buy charges
  • Preparing and submitting SDLT returns and Land Registry applications.
  • In addition to the role of conveyancer, they will also fulfil the role of Residential Property Team Leader in the Exeter office, undertaking all associated management duties.

     You will;
  • Hold a recognised professional qualification as either a solicitor, FCILEx or Licensed Conveyancer with a current practising certificate from the appropriate governing body.
  • Have a minimum of 2 to 6 years’ (*) post qualification experience of residential property work.
  • Have a strong academic profile.
  • Possess excellent client care and communication skills.
  • Have experience of influencing business development initiatives and marketing campaigns to generate positive interest from both clients and referrers leading to opportunities for business growth.
  • Have experience of managing a team of CQS accredited fee earners and support staff successfully.
  • Be a team player.
